Job Summary
Build and maintain Edmund Optics' technical content base: the structured set of content that lets customers and internal teams find accurate technical information. Work closely with the Technical Content Manager (TCM), who sets overall direction and priorities, while handling the day-to-day work of building, organizing, and maintaining the content. Leverage AI tools to speed up drafting and repurposing, maintaining rigorous quality checks, and ensuring technical accuracy before anything is published.
Job Duties
Content Generation, Curation, Repurposing, and Organization
- Curating technical and product content that reflects real, hands-on understanding of Edmund Optics' optics and photonics range, addressing a customer's actual problem rather than just listing specs. Understanding what makes a customer decide to buy matters as much here as technical accuracy.
- Building out and enriching Knowledge Center content.
- Keeping content fresh: helping to spot what's incorrect or outdated, suggesting what's missing, and maintaining a healthy rhythm of updates.
- Repurposing existing technical content into the formats and channels needed to improve reach and search visibility.
- Using AI tools to accelerate drafting, repurposing, and quality checks across the Knowledge Center, always verifying technical accuracy before publishing.
- Defining and maintaining the taxonomy, tagging, and metadata that make content easy to find, and keep naming and versioning consistent as the library grows
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinating across contributors, including technical SMEs, regional owners, translators, and external agencies, so department projects stay on schedule.
Performance Tracking
- Tracking how content performs, including views and searches, and reporting on what's working and what isn't.
AI & GEO Optimization
- Structuring and formatting Knowledge Center content to maximize visibility and citation in AI-powered search and LLM-generated answers (GEO), using clear structure, direct answers, and well-organized technical detail that AI can parse and cite.
- Staying up to date on how customers increasingly discover and consume technical content, including through AI search and chatbots, and adapting curation and formatting practices as those patterns evolve.
Job Requirements
- Knowledge and aptitude in optics & photonics concepts, and Edmund Optics products.
- Minimum two years of work experience in a technical sales or application engineering/support position.
- Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in STEM, technical, or related field.
- A natural feel for sales and customer needs.
- Strong collaboration and coordination skills: comfortable rallying stakeholders around a shared deadline.
- Able to understand unfamiliar products and technical concepts quickly.
- Professional fluency in English; additional regional languages are a plus.
- Comfortable using AI tools in daily work paired with a rigorous quality assurance mindset and strong judgment on technical accuracy verification prior to release.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in creating and/or curating technical or B2B content (preferred).
- Comfortable working with basic data and reporting (preferred).
- Familiar with GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) or AI-search content practices, or strong willingness to learn (preferred).
Edmund Optics shall, in its discretion, modify or adjust this position to meet the company's changing needs. This job description is not a contract and may be adjusted as deemed appropriate in the employer's sole discretion.
