Phosphor-coated silicon sensors are designed as a cost-effective alternative to InGaAs (Indium Gallium Arsenide) sensors, offering coverage in the 1495-1595 nm range, centered around 1550 nm. This technology is increasingly used in optical communications and other applications where precise monitoring of signals or materials in this specific wavelength range is required. This includes beam profiling, analysis, location, and alignment or standard imaging applications. These phosphor-coated sensors offer a narrower wavelength range but excellent efficiency in the 1550 nm region, making them more suitable for telecommunication and related tasks than broadband imaging applications. These cameras would require an imaging lens specifically coated for this wavelength range. Filters can be added to the system for increased performance, such as a bandpass filter for 1550nm, a longpass filter for the NIR, or 1550nm illumination sources.
