Session 1
Coatings at the Limit: From Damage Physics to Deposition for Ultrafast Fusion Drivers by Vladimir, UFI
Laser-induced damage in optical coatings for fusion-class laser drivers depends on the physical mechanisms active in high-energy, short-pulse regimes. This presentation covers multiphoton and avalanche ionization, EFI standing-wave management, and thermal load, supported by measured UFI data comparing HfO₂/SiO₂ and Ta₂O₅/SiO₂ coating systems. The data address absorption, two-photon absorption at shorter wavelengths, and the effects of deposition on coating performance. The presentation also addresses UV broadband capabilities and the practical design and manufacturing considerations required to produce durable, reproducible coatings for fusion-class laser drivers.Session 2
High-Energy Laser Optics: Coatings, Assemblies, and Laser Degradation by Dr. Bill Murray, Edmund Optics
High-energy laser systems place demanding requirements on every optic in the beam path. Edmund Optics combines high-LIDT coatings and precision fabrication with complete optical assemblies, including beam expanders and color-corrected ultrafast f-theta lenses. EO’s laser degradation studies examine how materials, coatings, contamination, and assembly choices affect performance under prolonged exposure. Together, these capabilities enable reliable beam delivery for demanding high-energy laser applications.Ask questions, get personalized insights, and connect with our experts in a relaxed setting.
